P is for Preparation and Planning

With three up coming shows in the next three weeks, Tiny Circus has been all a buzz getting everything in order.

Busy hands edit away on a number of projects. Kissing needs some 'smooches', Nests needs to lighten up, and all of the 12 second shorts need time for a little...pause.

The Air Stream Studio is also in the works. After days, hours, and minutes, we're starting to have a functioning shelter. Carlos goes about adding on a roof while Jess enjoys the last moments having such a spacious shelter.

We seem to getting closer and closer day by silvery day.

Sanding is of course essential.

Meanwhile, daily life goes right on a spinnin'. Circus members are becoming skilled in a number of tasks, including how to make the finest of fluffy wheat bread.

Yet, no matter how busy or overwhelming the task, we always have time for a friend.

Gardens and Groups

WE have a Garden, and we have a Group, both of these things are growing in a very unique way. Sometimes we all need to be looked at, reevaluated, weeded, harvested, talked to, danced with, and in time we all produce or make produce. Living in each one of these places have their dry time, their wet time, the windy time, and the sunny time, that is the nature of Gardens and Groups, and the beauty of them both. Below are some garden pics, as you can see its a work in progress. To compliment that is pics of the group doing a simple but difficult task. A completed task, but a process that grows on.

People, things, and critters

Tiny Circus started this week off fresh with a number of new things. Greta and Elizabeth began work today at the Global Arts Jam, making marbled paper with a group of local K-6 graders. We have a new face, Liz, who will be with us until Thursday. And sprucing up the studio is a new earplug holder lovingly constructed by Grace, pictured below. It has a pocket for each of us; appropriate as we are currently shooting the History of Pockets. We plan to wrap up the shooting tomorrow.

This week, we give credit to the things and critters that may not necessarily get the attention they merit. Here we salute the faithful orange jumpsuit that somehow manages to protect both 5'1" tall women and 6'2'' men from filth and power tools:

James the cat oversees the painting/rustproofing of the airstream's frame from a distance. Today, the Circus finished coating the frame and went on to attach the floor.

She's not a thing or a critter, but here is a picture of our lovely guest Liz, helping to paint the airstream:

Pogo the dog may be our unofficial mascot. Below, she presides over the morning meeting from the matriarch's position at the head of the table. In two meetings today, the Circus worked to form a more cohesive artistic vision of our show, and to discuss the collaborative nature of our work.

And now a treat for the eyes: a photo of last night's beautiful Iowan sunset.

Another day, another dragon...

The day started off with seven members of Tiny Circus heading over to Global Arts Jam to learn about the projects we'll be working on next week with local youth. Below, Alex and Joe do battle in dragon masks.

Work continued on the airstream today despite a rainy start. Carlos diligently welds, and it looks pretty sweet.

Jason and Greta get internet access up near the house. Greta is mighty pleased about something!

Shooting also continued on the History of Pockets. Our team has accomplished a total of seven scenes thus far, and we hope to finish shooting within the next week. Below, Fai mans the camera while Mona and Tessa look on in glee.

Thus closes the week at Tiny Circus, as its members prepare for a well-earned day of rest this Sunday!

Work, play. Play, work.

If you give the Circus espresso...

...they'll probably get to thinking.

And if the Circus gets to thinking, they'll probably get to working.

And if the Circus gets to working, they'll probably make some stuff.

And if the Circus makes some stuff, they'll probably want to shoot it.

And if the Circus shoots all day long, they'll probably want to go out on the town at night.

And if the Circus goes out on the town at night, they'll probably want to dance.

But if the Circus dances too hard, they'll probably all need massages.
